Kevin Trudeau, The Bad Profit

You've probably seen this guy on late night informercials - the kind that look like a legitimate news show, but really is just a money-making scheme designed to prey on the fear of millions ill people.

But really, Phoenix, how do you really feel about him?

Kevin Trudeau is a crook. He's a liar, he's a money-grubbing bastard. And if people are actually taking his Natural Cures advice, then he's a murderer.

Natural Cures, his self-published piece of shite, has sold over 5 million copies (although Mr. Trudeau has claimed he's sold more than 6 million). Why oh why? I don't get it. Are Americans really that desperate and stupid? It seems so, because his second book, More Natural Cures, is doing quite well. The guy has no qualms about lining his pockets with gold and the blood of the morons that actually believe his "medical and scientific" claims.

I had to read Natural Cures for myself. I didn't have the stomach to actually purchase it, but checked it out from the library. Shockingly, there was a pretty long waiting list for it. Here's just a few of the absurd claims he's made:

The FDA, pharmaceutical companies, food industry, and other non-profit agencies are working together in a mass conspiracy against the consumer.
OK, this is just all a bunch of hogwash. The Girls Scouts of America are plotting against the American consumer to sell more cookies? He's pissed that the FDA will only allow a drug to say it can cure a disease. Yeah, so what? It's to protect us from morons like you selling crappy coral supplements that are no better than a couple TUMS for $99.99. Jerk.

"If your body pH is alkaline, you can not get cancer. You can not get cancer, and if you have cancer, it goes away. That’s a cure."
This one just boggles my mind. Your body's pH is 7.4. You can't change that. If you do, you will die. There is NO such thing as an acid or alkaline body. You can alter the pH of your urine. That you can do, but not your body. Your stomach is super acidic, and all the food that leaves it is acidic. Mr. Trudeau, yo' mama is an alkaline bi-atch!

Bacteria and viruses don't cause disease, which is why you don't "catch" cancer or diabetes; disease is caused by an imbalance of vital energy.
Huh? Disease is caused by an "imbalance of vital energy?" Does that mean I will get sick if I underestimate the power of the Darkside of The Force? Bacteria and viruses don't cause disease. What the hell is this guy talking about? You can't catch cancer, huh? Ever heard of HPV? It's a virus that could cause cervical cancer. Ingrown butt hair.

Animals in the wild never get sick. All of our modern dieases are not in the natural world.
Ever heard of Avian Flu dipshit? How about Bubonic plague, which originated in rats. And AIDS, which started in monkeys? In my county, they spray for mosquitoes because of the West Nile virus that has been known to kill lots of birds. Mr. Trudeau, get your head out of your Natural ass.

"It’s getting worse and worse. Medical science has failed."
So we should turn to you? Let's see, the latest word is that lifespan has increased 30 years in just the last century. How many people do you know have polio? How about smallpox? Maybe the Naturalists that refuse to immunize their children will get these deadly and awful diseases. Let's see what happens if you have to go to the hospital for a heart attack or something, gonna take some vitamins? Douche bag.

Kevin Trudeau is a fraud. In 1990, he pretended to be a doctor in order to deposit $80,000 in
bogus checks. A year later, he was charged with larceny for obtaining fake credit cards and was in jail for 2 years. In 1998, he had to pay a $500,000 fine when the FTC charged him for making false claims with his infomercials. In 2004, he was ordered to pay $2 million for false claims pertaining to his coral suppliments curing cancer and other diseases.

His book really does suck, as he just says the same stuff over and over again. More conspiracy theories, more FDA and FTC bashing, more pitches for the reader to go to his website for more information. A payment
of $499 will give you lifetime access to more Trudeau bullshit on the internet. Tru-dat!

Mr. Trudeau preys on the fears and paranoia of the American public. It's easy to not trust the government and pharmaceutical companies, and Trudeau portrays himself as this "underdog" whitleblower. All he is, really, is a snake oil salesman. And an asshole.

If you follow his advice, your disease will simply get worse. If you do as Mr. Trudeau suggests, you'll end up more sick, suffering from the Hershey squirts, and probably have a lighter wallet.

I'm sad to admit my cousin bought this book.

In fact she bought two copies...one as a surprise present for her boyfriend who then woke up in the middle of the night adament that she buy this book. So she bought this book. With two copies, she gave one to my mom. I think it's stabilizing her bbq but I'm not sure.

It's amazing what people will believe is the gospel truth because it's in a book.

Hmm...

Hippocrates believed that the body contained 4 humors (body fluids) - blood, phlegm, yellow bile, and black bile. A balance of these fluids resulted in a state of health. Any excesses or deficiencies caused disease. An excess of black bile collecting in various body sites was thought to cause cancer. Of course, modern medical science has disproved this theory, but it seems as if Mr. Trudeau (with his theory of the “imbalance of vital energy”) wants us to return to that same ancient mind-set. Does he also promote blood-letting and cupping as cures for the common ailments of mankind? The ancients were only working with the information they had at hand, so they had an excuse for their treatments…. Mr. Trudeau does not. He’s irresponsible.

There is a very simple reason that the crew in Antarctica never gets colds. THEY DO NOT HAVE A BAKERY AT THE STATION. Therefore no yeast! Bread/pastry are the original junk foods. The yeast produces dozens of toxins that break down the human immune system, allowing influenza to produce a cold within hours of Antarctic crew members being exposed to yeast containing products when they return to the US.

Oh mr. Phx, you need to do some research here darlin'. Go see how many other reputable folk say the same or similar about most of what Kevin talks about. Its easy to get on a soapbox about something when you are standing in your own ignorance. And yours is showing, open up a little and find out what could possibly causing all the sickness, and why do more kids have autism, or adhd, or anxiety, or fibromialga....
Take a leap bud, it may help you some day with your own health and well-being.

10/22/2007 10:33 PM
Blogger The Phoenix said...

More kids don't have autism or ADHD or anything else necessarily. The fact that medicine has really identified all the different "disorders" on the autistic spectrum, for example, can easily account for this so-called increase.

Speaking of ignorance, you really don't know shit about me. So fuck you.

Also, I think pregnant mothers being exposed to all the chemicals (pesticides, plastics, etc.) that we in the 21st century have come to rely on also contributed to many children having disabilities.

I'm all for the increased regulation of so called "natural remedies." There's too many products out there that aren't up to USP standards, and that puts consumers at risk.

If you put your trust in a crook, you're taking a leap - a leap of death and less money in your pocket.

also, do you smoke crack?

because the things your saying like "A LOT OF IT IS BACKED UP IN SCIENTIFIC JOURNALS AND OTHER CREDITABLE SOURCES. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH ON MANY OF HIS CLAIMS AND MANY HAVE COME TO BE TRUE." just sound retarded.

scientific journals? creditable sources? who the fuck are you? do you have a medical degree?

did you get this info from the back of a cereal box by any chance? where is this scientific proof? not even a link too a site?

well shit, i got some

how bout this one. tells you everything you need too know about this dickless con artist.

or how about this one. consumer complaints about his products.

http://consumeraffairs.com/health/trudeau.html

here is another "WHY ELSE WOULD 6 MILLION PEOPLE AGREE WITH HIM AND BUY HIS BOOK"

gee, i dunno.. because they got SCAMED? he found people who were desperate, so he took advantage of them. trust me asshole, if i knew he was a con man i wouldnt have given him my money, DIR.

oh, and if you all are interested, this is his disclaimer in his book "i bought a copy because i was scared when my mother was dying of cervical cancer that i wanted too try anything too help her, god rest her soul"

"This book is considered by some a work of fiction, yet inspired by a true story. Some truth is sprinkled in to spice things up. On occasion names, dates, and events have been changed or made up for fun. It contains the opinions, theories, and conclusions of what some people call a raving lunatic, conspiracy theorist, snake oil salesman, political activist, consumer advocate, believer in imortality, and delusional fraudster. Belive what you will. It is for entertainment purposes only. Remember, the author is not a doctor and has no medical training. He is a two-time convicted felon. Yet... then again, did he say its all 100 percent true?"

for the love of god, he says hes lieing. he says he made it up. that its for entertainment only.

over and over

yet you bend over and take it in the ass and ask for seconds

and people, guess whats in the book. yeup, WEB ADDRESS! just about every "cure" has a website address that links you too, you guessed it, hes personal site where you have too PAY TOO VIEW THE INFORMATION!

gee, dat gone sound like uh scam too meh.

oh yea, and one more thing

why the hell does everyone bash the FDA?

do you know what the purpose OF the FDA is?

Too SCIENTIFICLY PROVE that something does what its said too do. if something does say, cure a cold, then it has too be put through YEARS of study and LOTS OF MONEY FOR RESEARCH before you can state the fact that you can CURE said cold with said supplement. if not, guess what your doin? your selling something that may or may not work OR FUCKING KILL SOMEONE who may have a reaction too that supplement.

thats why every "supplement" that isnt checked by the FDA is required too have a label that states that it is NOT approved by the FDA. if it has a "not approved by the FDA label, guess what. they can put a freakin herb that does nothing but look pretty in there and you wouldnt know the god damn difference.

but you all have too relize that some of those supplements may have some use! its just that you need ALOT of funding too research and put shit through trials. people are contiuously trying extracts of herbs and supplements in trial groups all over the world! you just need too give it some time people. its better too be safe then sorry. i sure as hell dont want too take something that COULD cure my cold but instead suddenly makes me start bleeding out of my eyes because it wasnt tested thoroughly.

now im not saying that the FDA is a god. nor am i saying that our nation doesnt do things that are not right. but damn people, your picking the side that has no proof of what its saying! your following people who want too block out what "The Man" is telling them so they start too belive the exact opposite or worse, create this fairy tale land where you can CURE CANCER WITH LINSEED OIL "which is used in paint, putty and as a wood finish"

and last but not least this part. kinda made me want too laugh because well, its just funny as hell.

"OPEN YOUR FUCKING EYES TO REALITY, THIS ISNT A PRETTY WORLD WE LIVE IN"

so wait, this isnt a "pretty" perfect world... but you want too belive there are these magical herbs that cure any and all diseases? that doesnt make a lick of sense...

so all in all, i guess you fall into the "stupid" catagory

also dont call people morons if your IQ is under 30 please

Moron...

This is an interesting article. Most people don't want to do their own research, so they put their faith in something in order to escape the work. Science ain't what it used to be, and neither is the medical profession. I reserve the right to vote with my wallet, have bought both Natural Cures books, and do not have animosity toward Kevin Trudeau. Paying for the guesswork of educated and degreed professionals, such as physicians who fail to diagnose or finally diagnose after the patient spends thousands of dollars, and offer exactly the same guarantee as Kevin Trudeau (NONE) pains me much more. I also don't care to pay for massive student loans through absolutely insane prices charged by the medical profession. I might add that I love my local pharmacist, and I will take his guess gladly on any issue I present to him.
